2019 - 2020 Fundraisers & Events at Verdi Elementary School
If you would like to get involved in any of the following fundraisers/events email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit one of our PFA meetings.
PFA Meetings are the third Monday of the month (3:30pm) at the school. Please refer to the school calendar for all meeting dates.
Pumpkin Patch – October 20th
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $20,000 - $30,000
The Pumpkin Patch is the largest fundraiser of the year for our school. This is where a majority of our PFA budget for the school year will come from. The Pumpkin Patch is a family fun festival offering a bounce house, jumbo slide, trampolines, mechanical bull, carnival games, food trucks, crafters, silent auctions and of course pumpkins! Approximately 2,000 people attend our Pumpkin Patch each year; therefore, it takes a lot of parent volunteers to make this event a success. Each classroom is assigned an activity during the event to run. Your teacher will have a sign up sheet for volunteers at Back to School Night. We appreciate any time you can volunteer!
Run For Education – October 20th
School Estimated Income Amount: $1,000
The Run For Education is a family-friendly run that raises money for student, schools, and physical/academic fitness in Washoe County. By participating in this event, Verdi will receive funds that will go towards PE equipment needed at Verdi.
Holiday Shoppe – December 7th
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $2,000
The Holiday Shoppe is a special event we do for our Verdi students to have the option of shopping for their families during the holiday season. All items are $5 or less. There is a room for parents or family members to wait while your student shops (coffee and cookies will be served). There is also a wrapping room for the students to use; so, all their gifts will be wrapped before they leave. Spirit Wear will be available for sale in the Parent Waiting Room during the Holiday Shoppe.
Bingo Night – January 29th
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $1,000
Bingo Night is fun fundraiser that the whole family can enjoy! Bingo Night has grown so much over the years that we have out grown our multipurpose room. This year’s Bingo Night will be held off campus at Billinghurst Middle School. Details will be sent home closer to the event.
Spring Gala – April 25th
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $5,500
This third annual fundraiser is for our Verdi parents and friends (anyone over the age of 21). Enjoy an evening out, dinner, silent auction, raffle and dancing! More details will be sent home, as the event gets closer.
Fun Run – May 15th
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $5,000
We would think all the students at Verdi would say this is their favorite fundraiser of the year. This event has our students running one mile through the Verdi neighborhood escorted by the Washoe County Sheriff Department. Our income from this fundraiser comes from Corporate Sponsorships and pledges raised by the students. Once the race is over, students enjoy cooling off thanks to the Verdi Volunteer Fire Department. A BBQ lunch for the whole school wraps up the event.
Box Top Challenges – October, February & May
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $800
Box Tops are a simple way for Verdi PFA to raise money! Box Top is evolving and has recently launched their new app to make it easier for families to submit their Box Tops. Please see the attached sheet in this packet for all the new details. If you have items at home that still have the Box Tops you can cut out, please continue to submit those to your student’s teacher. During each Box Top challenge, the class with the most Box Tops turned in will win a party from PFA. A Box Top flyer will be sent home with details of each challenge throughout the year.
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $2,000
We offer a fall order of our Verdi Spirit Wear. Our 2019-2020 apparel will debut at Pumpkin Patch. A Spirit Wear Order Form, for the new apparel, will be sent home after Pumpkin Patch for anyone to order that may not have had the chance to get some apparel at Pumpkin Patch. You can purchase discounted apparel at Back To School Night.
BBBS Donation Bin
PFA Estimated Income Amount: $600
As most of you have seen, there is a donation bin in the southwest corner of the school’s parking lot. Big Brothers Big Sisters donates $50 per month to our school to have this donation bin located at the school. Please feel free to donate gently used items to the bin. We do ask that you only donate items that can fit inside the bin in order to keep the surrounding area clean.
